Band: The Killers
Song: Mr Brightside
From: Las Vegas
Song Rating: Good
Song Description: A tasty mix of Strokes-esque garageish rock guitar, with a splash of emo lyrics, a pinch of a cool bass player and a manic Keith Moon of a drummer. Handsome singer too (aye you would though)
Ok I was playing around trying to work out this song and my guitar just happened to be in drop D, which is probably not what I would have expected the guitar to be tuned to but it makes the song much easier to play so I guess it must be thus!
Tuning (low to high): D A D G B E
Guitar: Best to utilise a fairly meaty humbucker equipped guitar, playing on the bridge setting (Something like and Epiphone Les Paul fits perfectly). Alternatively go and buy a spiky Gibson like the guitarist has.
Amplifier: Now for this you’ll be wanting two distorted channels, or one mildly distorted channel plus some kind of a distortion pedal. If you don’t have this then don’t worry, just freestyle it as you see fit, then badger somebody rich until they buy you a nice Marshall or Mesa-Boogie stack.

D |---------------------4444444-----88888888------6666666666
And that’s about it, just listen to the song to figure out what does where (note you stay on the 4 chord as a prechorus but you add the lead line an octave down above it)
