Hello, my name is Jayna and I'm seventeen years old. I just found out earlier today that my high school is doing "Into the Woods" for the Spring Musical. Auditions aren't untill December, but I want some time to practice and whatnot.

The role I'm aiming for is "The Witch". I'm a mezzo soprano, but I don't have a very wide range. Mainly middle notes to higher notes. B flat would be the highest I've gone in recent months.

Also, this isn't my first audition, but I get really uncomfortable singing in front of the auditioners. I'm fine when the actual show comes along, but I seem to psyche myself out on auditions. It's cost me roles/callbacks before, and I'd rather it not get in my way in what may be my only oppertunity to do this production. Any tips on how to overcome my "auditioning nerves" would be greatly appreciated :]

I'm not sure about what song you could sing - maybe something from "Wicked" would be a good choice?
But I dhave done quite a few auditions and things recently, and I know the one thing that keeps me calm is listening to music. Before your audition listen to whatever song you are singing, or just music you like, and just forget about it for a bit by getting lost in the music. Hopefully by doing that you dont think about the audition for a bit, so that should help your nerves. icon_smile.gif
